Are you a modern day tech geek who spends countless hours in front of the screen? If you are someone like me, you probably are familiar with the hassle of getting of getting jumbled up in the cords.

When using a personal computer, most of us prefer to use it in a comfy manner probably on our beds. Even when we are working on a desk, it is always a nuisance when the cord of your USB mouse gets stuck up somewhere, and you have to wrestle it to get it free.

As such, wireless mice have come to be a boon to the industry. Not only they are equipped with the latest tech which makes them go smooth and fast, but their designs are so sleek lately that you will just drop your eyes watching them.

Therefore, we realize the requisite for a wireless mouse for a modern day system is. Hence, after spending days of in-depth and extensive research and analyzing each product, we have compiled ourselves a list of Top 6 Wireless Mouse you need to order right now.

What to Consider when Buying a Wireless Mouse

You might be curious about what you should consider when you are thinking of purchasing a wireless mouse. While there are many factors constant in nature which do not play a huge role (like the frequency of 2.4 GHz which most wireless mice use), there are other variables which could affect the decision for you significantly.

The first factor would be the budget that you are willing to spend. If you are flexible on the money you can spare, it is better to go for a laser mouse than an optical one. However, if you are tight on the budget, an optical one would do the job just fine. Especially when various optical mice coming with the techs to match the laser ones.

Your hand orientation is another vital factor to consider. As the majority of the population is right-handed, many of the hi-tech mice developed could be right-handed. Such is especially the case with Logitech. Even when its design is ambidextrous, the programmable keys on the mice fall on the right side. Since these keys are operated with the thumb, they are more suitable for a right-handed person.

Once the issue of orientation is cleared up, ergonomics play another major role. While some people prefer to have a compact optical mouse that fits in the palm, other people prefer a raised surface to be more relaxing and comfortable to the wrist. Therefore, what you choose here is your personal preference.

The battery type and the battery life play another major role in the development. Some mice come with standard AA batteries, while others come with Lithium Ion Rechargeable batteries. The rechargeable ones eliminate the ritual of buying fresh batteries from the market, so the mice on the higher side of the price scale tend to have these. However, the ones with the AA type on our list give a long lasting life, so it is practically feasible.

After these primary deciding factors, there are other features unique to each mouse that makes it the best buy of its own. For example, the dark field sensor of the MX Master mouse can allow the mouse to be used on the glass surface. Many mice in the list come with an option to connect to many devices at once. Features like these could be alluring to certain users.

Lastly, for some people (including me) the looks of the product matter greatly as well. While most of the population can be lenient on the looks in case of electronic products, for others the looks are a major seller. After all, bragging to a colleague about this ‘cool’ mouse you got cannot hurt.

Therefore, these mice vary greatly in design with other. Also, some are available in more than one color as well. So you should choose a product that appeals to you.

Having said that, we have compiled our list after considering all these factors and analyzing all the reputed products that are available in the market. Nothing beats the experience of these six products.

1. Logitech Marathon Mouse m705

The Pros

  • A good value for the price
  • Low power consumption
  • Ergonomic shape
  • Laser tracking
  • Hyper-fast scrolling

The Cons

  • Jerky tracking in the start as compared to other laser mice
  • Takes time to get used to
  • Small movements could make sporadic behavior
  • Laser positioning
  • Not Ambidextrous
  • Only for right-handed users

*At the time of publishing, the price was $19.99.

With Logitech sweeping up the majority of the hi-tech mice market, its Marathon Mouse m705 is something you should put your bucks on definitely.

For a mere $19.99 at the time of this review, I would have bought one already if I were you. The Logitech Marathon Mouse is a laser tracking mouse and not an optical one. With the prices of such mice being off the charts, the Marathon Mouse m705 is a sensible buy.

To start with, the mouse company claimed three-year battery life. Though in truth, the battery does not last that long, it would surely give you a couple of years if you are a frequent user. Moreover, if you have used a wireless mouse before and are familiar with the battery they consume, you would realize this is a good deal.

The mouse is created for a right-hand user, so make sure that you check that box before you buy one. The design is very ergonomic, so it fits your hand perfectly.

Besides the normal finger buttons and scroll bars, the mouse has three integrated buttons near the thumb. Two adjoining buttons help in the ‘Backward’ and ‘Forward’ navigation when browsing the web pages. The third button on the left of the thumb pad puts open all the windows that you have currently left running.

How this mouse differs with other laser mice is in the position of its laser tracker. Usually, this tracker is located in the center of the mouse, or somewhere nearer to the thumb. However, in the Marathon m705, this tracker is located near the pinky side of the device. This is why some people might face jerky pointer tracking. It is not really a fault with the product and simply takes time to get used to.

Also, the hyper-fast scrolling is an added benefit. If you are impatient like me, you might be familiar with the experience of scrolling down long documents, and how it can suck the life out of a person. However, with Marathon mouse m705, you can scroll through pages with the speed of light. One scroll of the mouse can take you down through a huge chunk of contact at a fast speed.

The receiver of the device is a part of the Logitech Unifying receiver family. It allows you to connect up to six unifying receiver compatible devices to itself. Therefore, you can have even more wireless freedom with this receiver. You do not need to detach this receiver from your laptop.

Also, last but not the least, let us not forget how cumbersome it can be to carry a mouse pad all the time. However, with a laser mouse like m705, you can kiss mouse pads goodbye as well. This mouse can work on any surface (except glass and mirrors).

Verdict

This mouse is a good fit for right-handed users. It can fit the budget of every pocket, plus the features it offers for that price makes it a must have.

2. Logitech MX Master

The Pros

  • Cool shape and ergonomics
  • Thumb Wheel capable of horizontal scrolling
  • Dual Connectivity via Bluetooth and unifying receiver
  • Lightweight
  • Rechargeable battery
  • Long lasting battery on a single charge
  • Can work on three devices simultaneously
  • Can work on glass

The Cons

  • Too high price
  • The buttons on the jog wheel are very smaller in size
  • No application specific assignment
  • Only for Right-Hand Users
$75.15* from Amazon
*At the time of publishing, the price was $73.05.

Logitech strikes again at number 2 with its MX Master mouse (Logitech claims four from our list of six).

When you lay your eye upon the product, the sleek design of it will leave spellbound the geeky ones among you. It has a curved raised surface suitable for the ergonomic position of your wrist and the palm.

If you have the money to spare for it, you will not find something more featured packed in a single unit.

The first unique selling point of the mouse is the two scroll buttons it has near the thumb position. These buttons help you scroll through a window or a web page horizontally. The mouse has a hefty price tag of $60 (at the time of review) and $79 if you go for the Stone (white grayish) color. However, it seems pretty hi-tech to cover that price tag.

The mouse comes with a Dark Field Laser sensor. This is a new advancement in the field of sensors and enables this mouse to run over most surfaces. It can even run over glass (provided the thickness is over 4 mm).

The mouse has a device selector switch and can simultaneously connect up to three devices. You can switch between the devices with this switch. The receiver can be the unifying receiver as with the Marathon mouse m705, or it can also connect via Bluetooth Smart Wireless technology.

Another cool thing about this mouse is its battery. You do not have to worry about getting new AA batteries from the market now and then. This mouse comes with a rechargeable one!

The size of the job wheel buttons is very small and can be a hassle, but the other hi-tech features of the mouse can put that to the limelight. Every button of the mouse is customizable with the Logitech software.

Verdict

This mouse is a good buy for someone looking for a hi-tech device and is fine with spending good bucks for it.

3. Apple Magic Mouse 2

The Pros

  • Sleek Design
  • Rechargeable Battery
  • Multi-touch surface
  • Protective aluminum Casing
  • Smoother operation
  • Ambidextrous
  • Automatic Pairing with Mac via bluetooth

The Cons

  • Costly
  • Charging port at the bottom which calls the need to flip the mouse while charging
  • Works only on Mac
  • Not Ergonomic
$74.99* from Amazon
*At the time of publishing, the price was $74.99.

On first look of this mouse, I applauded Jony Ives for the sleek and cool design of the mouse. However, after some use, I realized about the design limitations of the product.

The magic mouse is a hybrid of a mouse and a trackpad, containing the best of both worlds.

The mouse comes with an optical sensor, which might put a disappointed look as there are laser mice available in this range. However, as we are familiar with Apple build quality, the high precision of this product can match a quality of a laser sensor, so no issues there. It even has force sensors in the bottom that measure how hard you are pressing.

The mouse is a rechargeable one with non-removable batteries. The company claims a one month use on a single charge. However, it approximately takes two charges in a month, which is still good.

The design limitation of the mouse is that the cord sticks up at the bottom of the mouse. This could be a major hindrance due to the inconvenience caused when charging the mouse sideways or flipping it up.

However, let us come to the main attraction of the mouse: the multi-touch interface. The entire top surface of the mouse is usable for navigation and gestures. You could perform operations like swiping, zooming with the pinch of your fingers, and scrolling on this surface. It can be seen as trackpad mouse hybrid.

The magic mouse is a hybrid of a mouse and a trackpad, containing the best of both worlds. You get the ease of using trackpad keys by single tap rather than depress, and the precision of what only a mouse’s cursor can offer.

The mouse comes equipped with automatic pairing to your mac or mac mini, provided it is enabled with bluetooth. This saves countless time in going through all the hassle of adjusting bluetooth settings.

The gestures do fasten up the operations when one gets used to the mouse. You can swiftly swap through the windows or scroll down web pages.

Also, the mouse has two leg railings which call for faster operation when working on the desk without a mouse pad.

Considering all the features, we can forgive the charging port at the bottom.

Verdict

Apple Magic 2 has a great minimalist design like other product of its parent company Apple. The full touch interface is a cool feature, and so is the automatic pairing. If you think the bottom charging point will not be an issue for you, this mouse is totally recommended to you if you are a Mac user.

4. Microsoft Bluetooth Mobile Mouse 3600

The Pros

  • Cheap
  • 4 way scroll
  • Cross Platform (Windows, Mac, and Android)
  • Ambidextrous
  • Compact
  • Lightweight
  • Takes no USB slot

The Cons

  • Does not work on Windows 7
  • Small size can be a problem for some people
$20.95* from Amazon
*At the time of publishing, the price was $20.95.

The Microsoft Bluetooth Mobile Mouse 3600 may not look like much on the first go. However, do not go on its looks. As they say, good things come in small packages. Similarly, this little mouse can win among its countless other competitors due to what it has inside.

Firstly, it is a good mouse for the price tag it has and with the brand name of Microsoft. It is a Bluetooth mouse and does not come with a receiver. Therefore, no lost USB slots on your machine.

The scroll wheel of the mouse is a very sought after feature. It is a four-way scroll wheel, which can navigate up, down, left, and right. The up and down are normal operations and the left, and right scrolling are accomplished by tilting the wheel to the either side.

The mouse can work across various platforms, typically most operating systems there are Windows, Mac, and Android. However, it does not support Windows 7. Though we can let that go as the mouse supports Android 5.0, which is not accomplished by its other competitors.

The mouse can be used by right-handed as well as left people. This might be some relief to the left-handed windows users as the Logitech competitors are mostly right handed.

The compact little thing can fit right into your pocket. It is a lightweight device. The small size is a curse or a boon depending on person to person and so we would leave you to decide how it works for you.

The mouse is an optical mouse and NOT a laser mouse. However, it has BlueTrack technology which improves its precision comparable to a laser one.

The mouse has a wireless range of 32 feet in the open and around 15 feet in an obstacle office environment. That would be enough for you if you are going to use it on your desk or in your room.

Coming to the battery, the mouse consumes less power. It is supported by one AA battery which can last for around a year. So no issues there.

The mouse is a good travel companion for the people who are always on the go.

It is available in Azul and dark red as well.

Verdict

All in all, this mouse is a great fit for everybody. Though some people get put off by a very small mouse, so consider that a factor if you are one of them.

5. Logitech MX Anywhere 2

The Pros

  • Can track across any surface
  • Comfortable
  • Rechargeable
  • Ligthweight

The Cons

  • Costly
  • No compartment for storing mice receiver
  • Only for Right Handed users
  • Only one year warranty
  • Build material feels inferior
$59.38* from Amazon
*At the time of publishing, the price was $59.77.

Coming to Logitech MX Anywhere 2 mouse, it is like the little brother of the Logitech MX Master. The major difference is in the shape of this mouse which is very compact. This wins the heart of all those who plan to use the mouse on the go, be it a blogger, digital nomad, or a business man.

It has a Dark field Laser Sensor which enables high precision scrolling on ideally any surface. It can scroll even on glass provided its thickness exceeds 4 mm.

The shape of the mouse is compact and comfortable. It is not a high rise mouse like the m705 marathon or the MX Master, though it inherits many other features from the later.

The mouse has a lithium ion battery that is rechargeable. It is a sigh of relief for those who are tired of wasting batteries on cheap wireless mice. A fully recharged mouse might give you about 45 days until the next charge is needed (Logitech claims it to be two months), which is a great deal.

The wireless connectivity has two options: The unifying controller as the MX master and the marathon mouse or the Bluetooth Smart technology. The later requires the need for Bluetooth 4.0, which many of the older systems might not have.

The mouse pairs up with up to three devices simultaneously, and you can switch the control between them with the click of a button.

Like the MX master, this mouse also comes with two programmable buttons on the thumb side of the mouse.

Clicking the scroll of the mouse can switch the scrolling from Ratchet scroll to fast scroll and vice versa. This cannot be programmed to act as a third button, which might be a hitch to some customers. However, this is overcome by providing a separate third button on the mouse.

The warranty on the mouse is a major drawback to consider. Logitech offers only one year warranty on the product, as opposed to the three year warranty on its other mice.

Gestures can be configured on the mouse by downloading the Logitech software. The buttons can be customized to do any tasks as per the user requirement. The tasks can be specified according to the application as well.

A main drawback of the product could be that it offers no space to hide the unifying receiver. This is a tiny receiver and could be prone to being lost otherwise.

Also, the build material is glossy plastic which feels a bit inferior to something that is expected in this price range of around $60 at the time of the review.

Verdict

Logitech MX Anywhere 2 mouse is a bit costly for the features. However, for someone who finds the Marathon m705 and the MX Master to be too large and high, this mouse could be a good companion. And not to remember, the small size of the anywhere 2 can offer better portability for the same features as MX Master.

6. Logitech m510 Wireless

The Pros

  • Zoom Button
  • Comfortable
  • Long lasting battery life

The Cons

  • No rechargeable batteries
  • Sensor is on the side which takes some time to get used to
  • Only for right handed users
$18.99* from Amazon
*At the time of publishing, the price was $26.50.

Logitech gives us its fourth entry in our list with the Logitech m510 Wireless Mouse. It is a starting entry in its list of laser mouse, so it is a decent buy for $18.99 at the time of this review.

Firstly, like other Logitech mice in our list, the m510 Wireless Laser mouse is a right handed mouse. Therefore, the left handed people are left with much disappointment for Logitech.

And if you are right handed and you get the mouse, you will find it to be a good fit into your hand.

This Logitech mouse too has two buttons over the side of the thumb. These can help with the back and forward operations, or be customized to perform other tasks as well.

The unique selling point of the product could be the zoom feature. If you deal with documents or images on your notebook intensively, this could be helpful. Otherwise, the zoom button wouldn’t be of much use.

The mouse uses two AA standard batteries for its operation. When you buy it, it would come preinstalled with the batteries. Logitech claims the batteries last for two years. Even if they last half as long, the mouse would be great in terms of battery.

It comes with the Logitech unifying receiver which connects up to six devices.

The sensor of this mouse is again all the way over to the little finger side (right). This would take some getting used to for a new user who hasn’t been using this type of mouse. Since traditionally the mice have their sensors in the center, this mouse might give jumpy tracking in the start. If that happens to you, it is normal and you do not need to return the product and give it a few more days.

The mouse comes with a laser grade optic sensor. Though it works on most surfaces, it wouldn’t work on glass or a mirror.

Verdict

This mouse is a good fit for you if you are planning to move over a more precise technology than an optical mouse. However, if you are flexible on the budget, the MX Master could be a better choice.

Conclusion

With hundreds of wireless mice out there in the market, what you should buy depends on what suits you the most. However, if you are planning to buy a wireless mouse, each product on our list is worth the buy.

It is better to read the specs of the product that you like before you place your order. One little ignorance will make you go through all the problematic procedure of returning the product.

The Luxury Winner: If someone can go easy on budget, I would suggest the Logitech MX Master as the clear luxury choice. It a high end sensor, coupled with an ergonomic design. Suitable for the techies as well as the gamers in you alike.

The Economical Winner: If your budget is a consideration, the Microsoft Bluetooth Mobile Mouse 3600 is the ideal fit. It is a cheap mouse with a good brand name, and it comes equipped with a bluetrack sensor. So you could definitely go for it.

Value for money: The Logitech Marathon Mouse m705 is the best value of money you could get. Great features, great design, great precision, coupled with an average cost. The ergonomic shape, laser tracking, and best of all, hyper scrolling are the things that really win my heart, and would win yours as well.

So what I would suggest is match your requirements with the features each one offers, and order it now. You might save yourself a few bucks in the discount.
